Bantams Baseball Sweeps Erskine JV

Game One

The University of South Carolina Union Bantams snagged a late lead and defeated Erskine JV 7-3 on Wednesday, February 16. The game was tied at three with the Bantams batting in the bottom of the fifth when Trent Turner singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Erskine JV captured the lead in the second inning when Trevor Linaman‘s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Erskine JV. Linaman toed the rubber for the Bantams. The fireballer allowed one hit and three runs over three innings, striking out four. #37 was on the mound for Erskine JV. The hurler surrendered one run on three hits over three innings, striking out two and walking zero. #20#29, and #40 each contributed in relief for Erskine JV.

The Bantams hit one home run on the day and totaled eight hits. TJ Highsmith had a four bagger in the fifth inning. Turner and Malik Price all had multiple hits for the Bantams. Price and Turner each collected two hits to lead. USC Union didn’t commit a single error in the field. Highsmith had the most chances in the field with five. Reed went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Erskine JV in hits.

Game Two

USC Union Bantams ran off with the lead late in the game in a 16-4 victory over Erskine JV on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with the Bantams batting in the bottom of the fourth when Trey Skidmore singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Trent Turner led the Bantams to victory by driving in five runs. Turner went 3-for-4 at the plate. Turner drove in runs on a triple in the first, a double in the fourth, and a home run in the sixth.

The Bantams got things moving in the first inning, when Turner tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. They took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Turner doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Bantams put up ten runs in the sixth inning and the offense in the inning was led by Burton HahnElier SanchezChaz Knight, and Turner, all driving in runs in the frame. Bryson Daniel was on the mound for the Bantams. The hurler went two innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one.

#38 started the game for Erskine JV. The pitcher surrendered three runs on three hits over two innings, striking out three and walking one. #36#39#42, and #12 each entered the game as relief, throwing one inning, one inning, one inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

The Bantams smacked two home runs on the day. Hahn had a dinger in the sixth inning. Turner put one out in the sixth inning. The Bantams totaled 14 hits, with TurnerHahnAntonio Gleaton, and Malik Price all having multiple hits for the Bantams. Turner went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the USC Union Bantams in hits.
