Lady Bantams Sweep Columbia College!

Game 1:

USC Union easily dispatched Columbia College Koalas on Tuesday, March 19, 8-1.

USC Union jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Madison Goossens doubled, scoring one run, and Sophie Caley singled, scoring two runs.

A single by Gracie Starnes, and a ground out by Matigan Nettles helped USC Union extend their early lead in the second.

Brianna Compton earned the win for USC Union. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking two.

USC Union tallied 13 hits in the game.

Nettles, Goossens, Starnes, and Abby Benfield each collected two hits for USC Union. Caley and Starnes each drove in two runs for USC Union.

Game 2:

Madyson Gregory, Miss Union’s Teen, and her Palmetto Super Star Delilah Yarborough threw out the first pitch at the 3PM game!

Peyton Morris drove in four runs on three hits to lead USC Union past Columbia College Koalas 14-5 in the second game. Morris doubled in the second scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, and singled in the fourth scoring one.

USC Union took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Matigan Nettles singled, Morris singled, and Jayda Davis grounded out, each scoring one run.

USC Union committed an error, which helped Columbia College Koalas tie the game at three in the top of the second.

USC Union flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on six hits to take a 10-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Morris that drove in two.

USC Union added one run in the third after Madison Goossens doubled.

Abby Benfield earned the win for USC Union. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking none.

Morris opened the game for USC Union. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Kennedy Fennell appeared in relief for USC Union.

USC Union amassed 18 hits in the game.

Goossens went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead USC Union in hits. Nettles, Gracie Starnes, Benfield, and Brianna Compton each collected multiple hits for USC Union.

Goossens stole two bases. USC Union ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game.
