The Lady Bantams Soccer came out firing Wednesday September 16th, scoring seven goals in the opening period on their way to a commanding 7–0 victory over Alice Lloyd College at home in Union.
USC Union wasted little time finding its rhythm, putting pressure on the Alice Lloyd defense from the opening whistle. The Bantams scored all seven of their goals before halftime, then turned their attention to maintaining the shutout during the second half.
Kayley Hall led the Bantams’ offensive attack with a hat trick, scoring three goals in the opening period. Six different USC Union players found the back of the net during the match. Miley Wofford added a goal and contributed two assists, while Layla Gonzalez recorded a goal and an assist.
Callie Hall and Trinity Stehley also found the back of the net to round out the Bantams’ scoring.
USC Union’s passing and teamwork were evident throughout the offensive outburst, as the Bantams finished with seven assists on seven goals. In addition to Wofford and Gonzalez, assists were credited to Nadia Stark, Daniela Vazquez Diaz, Jessica Merwin, and Noelia Bravo.
While the USC Union offense provided plenty of fireworks in the opening period, the Bantams’ defense took care of business after halftime. Goalkeeper Nadia Stark earned the victory and recorded one save as USC Union preserved the shutout. Alice Lloyd managed just one shot on goal for the entire match.
After scoring seven times before the break, the Bantams held Alice Lloyd scoreless throughout the second period to secure the 7–0 final.
