Lady Bantams Sweep USC Sumter Again

In game one, five runs batted in from Ansley Connelly helped lead Lady Bantams past USC Sumter 12-4 on Saturday.  Connelly drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the fourth, and a single in the sixth. An early lead helped propel Lady Bantams to victory.  Lady Bantams scored on an error, a single by Molly Winstead, and a double by Connelly in the first inning. Alexandra Bell was in the pitcher’s circle for Lady BantamsBell lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out eight and walking one.

#17 was in the circle for USC Sumter. undefined went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs on ten hits and striking out three.

Lady Bantams tallied one home run on the day. Madison Truett went deep in the second inning. Lady Bantams tallied ten hits on the day.  ConnellyTruett, and Hannah Truett all had multiple hits for Lady Bantams.  Connelly went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Lady Bantams in hits.  Lady Bantams didn’t commit a single error in the field and Truett had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

USC Sumter racked up nine hits.  #27#18, and #26 each had multiple hits for USC Sumter.

In game twoLady Bantams took the lead late in the game in a 13-10 victory over USC Sumter on Saturday. The game was tied at ten with Lady Bantams batting in the bottom of the fifth when Gracie Starnes doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Lady Bantams earned the victory despite allowing USC Sumter to score six runs in the fourth inning.  #1#27,  #26, and #22 all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

USC Sumter fired up the offense in the first inning, when #19 doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Brianna Compton was in the circle for Lady Bantams. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out two.

#29 led things off on the rubber for USC Sumter. The pitcher lasted four and a third innings, allowing ten hits and 11 runs while striking out four and walking one.  #17 threw one and two-thirds innings in relief.

Lady Bantams tallied 12 hits on the day.  Madison TruettAnsley ConnellyStarnes, and Hannah Truett all collected multiple hits for Lady Bantams.  Truett led Lady Bantams with three hits in four at bats.

USC Sumter racked up ten hits on the day.  #26#19, and #1 each managed multiple hits for USC Sumter.  #26 went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead USC Sumter in hits.
