Lady Bantams Conquer USC Sumter

Game One

USC Union Lady Bantams ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-4 victory over University of South Carolina- Sumter Fire Ants on Sunday, April 10. The game was tied at one with Lady Bantams batting in the top of the fifth when Gabby Kirkman singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Lady Bantams opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run for the Lady Bantams.

University of South Carolina- Sumter Fire Ants Varsity evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning.  Deneathia Dixon singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Lady Bantams put up four runs in the seventh inning, and their offense in the inning was led by Amaura BurgessAsia AllenCameron Jackson, and Kirkman, all driving in runs in the frame.

Alex Bell led things off on the rubber for Lady Bantams. The pitcher surrendered four runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out four.

Aubrey Brown led things off in the circle for University of South Carolina- Sumter Fire Ants Varsity. Brown allowed 14 hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out two.

Lady Bantams socked two home runs on the day. Allen went deep in the seventh inning. Burgess had a long ball in the seventh inning.

Lady Bantams racked up 14 hits on the day.  Hannah TruettJacksonKirkman, and Jesse Wicker all had multiple hits for Lady Bantams.  Jackson and Truett each collected three hits to lead Lady Bantams.

Dixon went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead University of South Carolina- Sumter Fire Ants Varsity in hits.

Game Two

Lady Bantams nabbed the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over University of South Carolina- Sumter Fire Ants Varsity on Sunday. The game was tied at three with Lady Bantams batting in the top of the seventh when Ansley Connelly singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Lady Bantams got things moving in the first inning. An error scored one run for Lady Bantams.

Stephanie Zeigler led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Lady Bantams. Zeigler went three innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out two and walking zero.

Jada Cox started the game for University of South Carolina- Sumter Fire Ants Varsity. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out two.

Gabby Kirkman led Lady Bantams with two hits in four at bats.  Lady Bantams didn’t commit a single error in the field. Asia Allen had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
