Lady Bantams Dominate with Statement Wins

The USC Union Lady Bantams softball team delivered an emphatic message week of March 22nd, rattling off a string of dominant victories across Region 10 competition and outscoring opponents in eye-popping fashion. From tight execution to explosive offensive production, Union showcased the depth and firepower that has defined its season.

Union opened the stretch with a strong 4-1 win over Patrick & Henry Community College on March 22, setting the tone with disciplined pitching and timely hitting. The Lady Bantams followed that performance with a doubleheader sweep of USC Salkehatchie on March 24, winning 9-1 and 17-0 in games shortened to five innings. The offensive surge continued just two days later, as Union shut out Richard Bland College 7-0 before erupting for back-to-back run-rule victories over Fayetteville Technical Community College, 25-0 and 16-0.

Across the six-game span, the Lady Bantams outscored their opponents 78-2.

Union’s lineup has been one of the most productive in the region this season, boasting a .349 team batting average and more than 240 runs scored through the early portion of the schedule. That offensive efficiency was on full display during the road trip, particularly in the dominant wins over Fayetteville Tech, where Union combined for 41 points in runs in just 10 innings of play.

Key innings defined the week, including explosive multi-run frames against Salkehatchie and Fayetteville Tech that quickly put games out of reach. Aggressive baserunning and consistent contact allowed the Lady Bantams to capitalize on nearly every scoring opportunity.

While the offense grabbed headlines, Union’s pitching staff was equally impressive. The Lady Bantams allowed just two total runs over six games, including four shutouts. Command in the circle and strong defensive support kept opposing hitters off balance and prevented any sustained rallies.
