Lady Bantams Power Over Cleveland Community On The Road

The Lady Bantams completed a dominant doubleheader sweep over Cleveland Community College on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2026, in Shelby, North Carolina. USC Union opened the day with an impressive 8–0 shutout victory, setting the tone early. The Bantams scored in the first inning and then broke the game open with a four-run second inning. They added two more runs in the third and another in the sixth to secure the win. USC Union finished game one with nine hits, three walks, and aggressive base running that included three stolen bases and two sacrifice bunts.

A. Evans led the offense in the opener, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a triple. L. Taylor added three hits, while S. Brown drove in a run as part of a balanced attack. In the circle, H. Pettit delivered a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits over six innings. Despite two defensive errors, Cleveland was unable to capitalize as Pettit kept them off the scoreboard.

The momentum carried into game two as USC Union’s bats erupted in a 15–4 victory. The Bantams jumped out to a 4–0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. USC Union piled up 19 hits, scoring in five of the six innings and putting the game away with a five-run sixth. J. Avant had a perfect 5-for-5 performance with four RBIs to power the offense. M. Thompson and S. Brown each added four RBIs, while multiple players contributed multi-hit efforts. Heitman went the distance in the circle, allowing four runs over six innings to seal the sweep.

Across the doubleheader, standout performances from A. Evans, J. Avant, M. Thompson, S. Brown, H. Pettit, and J. Heitman highlighted USC Union’s depth and dominance on both offense and defense.
