Bantams Defeat Southwest Virginia at Region Semifinals

On October 24, 2025, USC Union showcased an impressive performance against Southwest Virginia, securing a decisive 4-0 victory at USC Sumter. The match, which kicked off at noon, saw USC Union dominate both halves, leaving Southwest Virginia struggling to make an impact.

The scoring opened early in the 15th minute with Steve Ouattara netting a goal assisted by Pedro Rocha. USC Union continued their offensive momentum, with Valerio Cuscina doubling the lead in the 30th minute, thanks to an assist from Joshua Macdonald. Cuscina struck again in the second half, scoring in the 56th minute, again assisted by Macdonald, bringing the score to 3-0. The final goal came in the 78th minute from Julian Fodisch, who capitalized on an assist from Cuscina.



Southwest Virginia faced significant challenges throughout the match, struggling to create scoring opportunities and failing to register a single shot on goal. Their efforts were further hampered by disciplinary issues, with Ethan Sutherland and Euan Whitty receiving yellow cards in the 54th and 68th minutes, respectively. Jacque Watson’s red card in the 65th minute compounded their woes, leaving them with ten men on the field.

USC Union’s goalkeeper, Pau Gimenez, had a quiet day, facing no shots on goal, while Southwest Virginia’s Pedro Marcos Hern&aa was kept busy with 16 shots against him, managing to save 12.

Though the Bantams fell short at the Region 10 Championship against USC Lancaster the following day,  the team ended their season at a record breaking 6 wins, 0 losses in conference and 10 wins, 2 losses overall. 

“We pushed each other as a team,” said sophomore Josh MacDonald. 

“We had a stronger bond as a team this year,” said sophomore Nathaniel Greene. “Everybody was will to go the extra mile.”
