USCU Awarded Lutz Foundation Grant for Clothes Closet

USC Union received a grant from the C.H. and Anna E. Lutz foundation to establish a Clothes Closet on campus. The Lutz Foundation (501-C3) was established in 1995 with the purpose of endowing a foundation that would help to fund community needs. Since then, they have funded over $8,000,000 in grants, contributing to an average of 20-25 grants per year.

USC Union’s Campus Clothes Closet provides students with free gently used or new professional attire for interviews, internships, or special events. This resource helps ensure that every student can present themselves with confidence, regardless of financial barriers. Having access to appropriate clothing not only supports career readiness but also boosts self-esteem and opportunity. The Clothes Closet reflects USC Union’s commitment to student success both in and out of the classroom. “We are deeply grateful to the Lutz Foundation for their generous support in helping bring this initiative to life! Their contributions to USC Union continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students,” said Annie Smith, Director of Marketing & Development.

The Lutz Foundation has also awarded grants to USC Union for their student food pantry, birthing mannequin for the nursing department, and other initiatives that have greatly contributed to student succeed.
