“This year our goal is to dominate in our conference and achieve multiple national titles,” said Paige Nance Sherbert, USC Union Rifle Coach. “We are working towards achieving individual monthly scoring goals in order to make these goals a reality.”
Paige is a USC Union alum, having graduated with her Associate of Arts in 2024. She actively competed in rifle from 1998-2005, and became an NRA Level 1 Coach in 2025, and a Level 2 Coach in 2025.

Paige’s favorite USC Union memory was seeing freshman Mekayla Baker make it on the podium with a 3rd place finish at Collegiate Club National Championships as a freshman, against some of the most well-known university teams in the country.
Paige and her husband live in Union with their dog Carlii.
Assistant Lady Bantams Softball Coach Tommy Benfield has coached softball at every level. A native of York, SC, he graduated from York High School in 1989, here he was a member of the 1986 football championship team. He went on to play baseball at Anderson College.
“My favorite memory is being a part of our 2024 team that won 36 games and topped every offensive record except for 2,” he said.

Tommy has coached various ages of travel ball over the years, and coached at Union Christian Day School as the head varsity coach from 2018-2021, where the team finished as state runners up their first year, and won the state championship undefeated in 2021. He also coached at Union County High School in 2023.
A fun fact about Tommy is that he retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol in 2018. “I have been married to my beautiful wife Meredith for 25 years and we have a daughter, Abby, who was a member of the Lady Bantams Softball team in 2023 and 2024. We have 2 Labrador Retrievers, Bell and Luna,” he said. “I spent this last summer traveling to recruit future Lady Bantams.”
“The only time that success comes before work is in the dictionary,” said Tommy, when asked about his goals for the team. “I want to develop these young ladies not only on the field, but also prepare them for life. I expect our team to win 40 + games and win our region this year. I have been in Union County long enough to know that the people here are deeply passionate about their sports, and we as a coaching staff want to put a team on the field that our school and community are proud of.”
