Bantams from Around the World!

Bantam Athletes come from all over the world to play at USC Union. Meet a few of our international students!

Gabriel Caldera is a freshman from Cancun, Mexico. A forward on the Men’s Soccer team, he says he wanted to come to the U.S. to study because there are more opportunities to combine sports and studies. He said that his biggest surprise upon moving to Union was being able to connect with the other internationals on the team. “Cancun is very touristy,” he said. “This is a small city, but I am still meeting people from all over the world.” Gabriel what he loves most about being in Union so far is eating at Naruto.

Justin Skorupsky (front) is from Toronto, Canada, and found USC Union through a friend of a friend. A sophomore Bantam Baseball player, he says moving from a fast-paced city to a small town was an adjustment. “In Toronto, there are more food options and more activities,” he said. “But being here, you learn different ways to have fun and spend more time hanging out together.”

Justin says that one positive of going to college in a different country is that you learn to be independent. He says his favorite USCU memories have been the bus rides to each game. “We play music and have a laugh on the bus,” he said.
