Meet the Union Laurens Commission for Higher Education

The Union Laurens Commission for Higher Education is committed to helping USC Union grow. Formed in 1965, this group owns and oversees all the university’s buildings and facilities.

“We want to provide the best for our students, faculty, and staff,” said Tim Svedlund, commission chair.

Comprised of 8 members – two from Laurens and six from Union – the commission meets bi-monthly to discuss campus development. The group consists of retired educators, USC Union alumni, business owners, and community leaders. “We are very active,” said Svedlund. “We are always in attendance at campus events and participate in weekly discussions about the university.”

Over the last three years, the commission has facilitated over $12 million in improvements to campus facilities like our new brick sign, Rippy Courtyard mural, and Lady Bantams Softball Complex.

“We are looking forward to the next five years,” said Svedlund. “There are several projects coming in Jonesville and Clinton, as well as on the Main Campus.”

Current members of the Union Laurens Commission on Higher Education are Tim Svedlund (Chair), Lewis Jeter (Vice Chair), Paula Moss (Secretary/Treasurer), Connie Parker, Roger Bailey, Pat Littlejohn, Mike Cassels, and Steve Hudson.
