Meet Our Team: Keiara Kendall and Kevin Birchfield

“Our girls have made so much progress this season already, and I’m excited for what will come in the next months,” said Keiara Kendall, USCU’s Assistant Volleyball Coach.

A native of Union, SC and graduate of Union County High School, Keiara has played volleyball with UCHS, Union County Volleyball Club, and Clinton College, where she is currently pursing a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Psychology.

Keiara also currently coaches Stars Carolina Club volleyball and coached for UCVC last season.

Keiara’s favorite USC Union memory so far has been attending classes through dual enrollment in high school. “There were so many fun events to keep students engaged and excited about this journey,” she said.

“You name it, I’m probably interested in doing it,” said Keiara when asked about her hobbies. When she is not at USCU, she enjoys reading, working out, cooking, making vlogs, painting, singing, and going to church.

“My goal for this year’s team is to help develop a mindset focused on giving maximum effort and positive communication on every play, in every practice, and in every game,” said Kevin Birchfield, Assistant Coach to the Lady Bantams Softball Team.

Kevin is from Laurinburg, NC and received his master’s in Sports Administration in 2024. He is going on his 19th year of coaching softball, having coached at all levels – middle school, high school, travel ball, and college.

“My favorite USC Union memories are celebrating coach Royce’s 100th win last year at Montreat College and the road trips with the players,” he said.

When Kevin is not on the field, he loves to travel. “I have visited 32 out of our 50 states and 10 countries outside of the United States,” he said.
