Game 1:

On March 19, 2025, the USC Union softball team delivered a commanding performance against Montreat, securing an 8-0 victory in a game held in Union, South Carolina. The matchup, which began at 1:00 PM, saw USC Union’s players take control early and maintain their dominance throughout the contest.

The game’s standout player was R. Bouchard, who had an impressive day at the plate and on the base paths. Bouchard went 2-for-3, driving in five runs, and hitting two home runs. Additionally, Bouchard showcased speed with two stolen bases, contributing significantly to USC Union’s offensive prowess.

A. Cole also made a notable impact, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while C. Rumsey added to the team’s hit tally with three hits of his own. B. Stewart and S. Brown chipped in with RBIs, further solidifying the home team’s lead.

On the mound, J. Heitman was exceptional, pitching a complete game shutout. Heitman allowed only two hits and struck out 12 batters over six innings, preventing Montreat from mounting any offensive threat.

The game was characterized by USC Union’s efficient batting and solid pitching. Despite the lack of attendance, the home team’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing their skill and teamwork. The team sealed their victory with two additional runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught was spearheaded by standout performances from E. Pelletier and B. Stewart, each of whom contributed significantly to the team’s nine hits. B. Stewart drove in three runs, while J. Davis and A. Hoile also contributed with RBIs.

The pitching was equally impressive for USC Union, with K. Starns delivering a stellar performance on the mound. Starns pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and striking out four batters over five innings, ensuring Montreat’s lineup remained scoreless throughout the contest.

Defensively, USC Union was flawless, committing no errors and executing a double play involving A. Benfield, M. Graham, and K. Starns, which further stifled Montreat’s attempts to get on the scoreboard.
