The Bantam Rifle Team kicked off their season on Jan. 6 at The Citadel for the South Carolina Jr. Olympics. This match was to determine the best shooters in South Carolina in each discipline. Air rifle is shot at a distance of 10 meters and a 10 is achieved by hitting the center dot that is the same size as the dot on and (i). Freshman Keagan Dean had a phenomenal first match with a new personal best score of 560/600, which earned her a silver medal in the U21 category against other D1 athletes of her age. “This is a great accomplishment, and she has shown great improvement,” said Head Coach Paige Sherbert. Bantam Rifle has 4 more matches scheduled for this season – Feb. 3 and Feb. 9 at Ole Mill Range, Feb. 24 at Georgia Southern, and will end their season in Ft. Wayne Indian at the X-Count for Collegiate Club Nationals, where they will face off with schools such as Akron, Michigan, Purdue, and a few other. We are looking forward to a great season!
