The Lady Bantams softball team is gearing up for another exciting season! Get to know a few of our players!

“I’m excited to see what the team can put together this spring, and see how far we can go” said right-handed pitcher Briana Compton, a sophomore Business and Marketing major from Monroe, NC. “My favorite part about being on the team is being around my teammates and coaches. They make it a fun environment.

Kennedy Fennell (left-handed pitcher), is a sophomore Nursing major from Traveler’s Rest. Her favorite thing about being a Lady Bantam is getting the opportunity to travel with the team. She also loves the community at USC Union. “I like that it’s a small campus and everybody knows everybody,” she said.

“I’m excited to see how the team works together to accomplish our goals,” said Gracie Starnes, outfielder and sophomore Criminal Justice major from Wagner, SC. “My favorite thing about being on the team is the energy and having a bond with the other girls.”

Ashlee Hoile (outfielder/ catcher) is a freshman from Blythewood, SC, studying Business. She is excited to be playing at the collegiate level this year. “I love how funny my teammates are,” she said when asked to describe her favorite thing about being a Lady Bantam. A fun fact about Ashlee is that she loves sunflowers.

Madison Goossens, known as “Goose” by her teammates, is a catcher and sophomore Nursing major from Goose Creek. She is excited to see the team’s good dynamic in action this season. “We are working together to be successful rather than working alone,” she said.

Abby Benfield (pitcher, utilities), a freshman from Union, wants to win Region. “I like the atmosphere of the team,” she said. “It is fun getting to know new people.”

Kennedy Williams (first base), a freshman nursing major from Florence, SC, says that she is going to give 150% this season. “I want to be there for my teammates and have fun,” she said. “I’m looking forward to meeting new people, creating new bonds, and taking advantage of every opportunity softball gives me.” A fun fact about Kennedy is that she was the first wrestling state champion in her high school and city. She says it is a “blessing” to be able to play collegiate softball.
This week, the softball team is traveling to Clearwater, Florida, where they will compete in the Adidas JUCO Kickoff Classic and Showcase. Stay tuned for updates!
