Alumni Spotlight: Kyleigh Collins

I started at USC Union in the Fall of 2018 and continued my education here until Fall 2019, when I transferred to St. Andrews University for a four-year scholarship to play softball. I graduated from St. Andrews University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I am currently in the Master of Human Resources program at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. I will be graduating in December of 2023 with my MHR Degree and starting a full-time position as an HR Business Partner in the Leadership Development Program at Eaton Corporation.

While I was a student at USC-Union, I participated in the Research Club and was a member of the Bantams Softball team.

USC Union was a second home for me. As an 18-year-old girl graduating from a small private high school, I knew I wanted to go to a small college. Amanda Warley, the Head Softball Coach and Athletic Director at the time, recruited me and invited me for a visit. Once I stepped on campus, I knew I was going to call Union my home for the next 2 years. Everyone was so nice and friendly. The small-town southern feel reminded me of home even though I would be moving 3 hours away from where I grew up. While I attended Union, I made so many priceless memories with my teammates and friends that I am forever thankful for. I cherish all the softball practices, sporting events, lunches, community events, road trips with the team, dinners at Midway, and most of all the time spent with my friends Grace Revels and Mia Stokes.

The faculty and staff at USC-Union helped prepare me for furthering my education by giving me a safe space to learn and develop at my own pace. If I needed help, I always felt comfortable asking questions or going up to a professor after class. Every one of my professors wanted to see me succeed on and off the softball field. To this day I am grateful for the relationships I made with the faculty at USC Union.  They have truly helped get me to where I am today.

The experience of the team always having your back is more than words can describe. My softball team was my family here at Union. I felt safe with them, and I had some of the best years of my life with all the girls. Even though my team went through some devastating times with the loss of two of our teammates, I still try to stay connected with my teammates because every single one of them made an impact on my life forever!

Dr. Majdouline Aziz, was my Sociology professor in 2018. I loved her class and the project she gave me to find the true meaning of a song from a sociological perspective. She made a huge impact on my life and helped me in the application process for the USC Master of Human Resource Program last year!

My advice to new or upcoming students is do not be afraid to shoot for the stars! The worst thing someone can do is tell you NO. Dream big and build a network with people wherever you go because the people you encounter today might help you achieve your dreams in the future.
